Heather's Wedding Day

Ok since the wedding is the freshest thing in my mind I'm going to write about it first to make sure I get it all covered and then will work my way back to Friday and Thursday's events.

So finally after all those months and months of waiting, came the Big Day!  For us bridesmaids and bride, our day started around 8-8:30 as we all got up to be ready for our 9am hair appointments.  I had been woken up by a phone call from my Mom saying that she and dad had missed their flight from Syracuse to Nashville!  There were no other flights expect one that got them in at 10 pm that night! The immediate problem now was making sure we got Jenna a ride from Nashville to the hotel as she was flying from Houston to Nashville and was supposed to meet parents at the airport around noon and they would drive her to the hotel.  So I immediately got out of bed and went into the kitchen to see who was awake.  At this point only Uncle Ed was awake with Lauren and Kathryn so I told him the story and he thought that Ryan would be able to pick her up since he was going to get Jackie and Steve around 10:30 anyway.  So I quietly go back into the room (Heather and I were sharing the Americana room) to grab my phone and text Megan to see if she could ask Ryan to pick up Jenna.  Thankfully Ryan had no problem doing so and I felt better with that crisis averted!  Now to face the next problem of getting the sleepy bride up!

Heather as usual did NOT want to wake up but I think I'd be more worried if she did hehe. After some groans and moans, she finally sat up and slowly began getting ready. While I was getting ready, I realized that I did not bring with me a button up shirt in order to make changing into my dress easier w/o messing up the hair which is a problem.  Fortunately Heather let me borrow one but naturally is was too long for me but at that point I didn't care. But to anyone who saw me it looked like all I was wearing was that extra long shirt cuz it hid my shorts.  I was so comfortable in it, I thought we should all walk down the aisle dressed that way!

We made it to our appt a little late which wasn't a problem.  Her hairdresser was really cool and very funny.  I was the first to get my hair done and I think it only took about an hour.  He curled several sections of my hair until finally it was one curly blob which then got twirled and piled on top of my head.  I had bobbypin duty during the process which simply meant I got to hand him bobbypins out of a huge box.  There were 61 bobbypins used btw.  While he was working on my hair, he had two other hair stylists curl Kristin and Peggy's (Danny's cousin) hair.  Kristin was adorable with those tight curls!  She couldn't help but bounce around, turn her head, and pull on the curls while watching herself in the many mirrors in the place!  At one point I told her "Kristin we know your gorgeous."  To which she replied with "That's what Megan would say!" and I naturally took that as the highest compliment . Meanwhile Heather is getting her hair done and she was debating about whether or not she should switch her hairstyle to be like the bridesmaids but her hairstylist told her too bad and made her stick to her original idea which was great because it worked so well on her especially holding that tiara in!  He did use some extensions to add to the thickness and give it a highlighted look which was the perfect touch.

While Heather was having her hair worked on, she decided she was going to get those Pizza Hut breadsticks that she's been craving for the last two days and had Sara, her maid of honor, order some for carryout which Sara did pick up and brought back to the salon.  I was relieved to see Heather finally chowing down because she barely ate anything at the rehearsal dinner the previous night and wasn't sure she had anything that morning either.  So I made sure to get some pictures as proof for her family that she did eat and we wouldn't have to worry about her fainting during the wedding!  Those breadsticks were gone in a flash as the other girls joined in once their hair was finished.  After a total of 3 hours everyone was done and it was back to Aunt Dawn's for lunch and make-up time.

Heather stayed only briefly at her house as she was having her make-up done at the mall.  The rest of us grabbed leftovers to eat and collasped into the kitchen chairs wishing more than anything to go back to bed which was the only thing we couldn't do as it would mess up our hair we just spent forever getting done!  We didn't have to be ready to leave until about 3 and it was only noon so we had a lot of time to kill.  Mainly that was done eating and chitchatting with the rest of the cousins and boyfriends.  I made a point to stay clear of the loft (originally called the dungeon by Aunt Dawn and Aunt Cindy until Dustin pointed out that it couldn't be a dungeon since it wasn't underground so was later renamed the tower) which is where all the dress making and hemming was going on and it was best to give Aunt Dawn and Aunt Cindy their space to work and only venture up there when called.

About an hour later Uncle Tim, Aunt Sherri, Kallie, and Brenton arrived.  I hadn't seen them in a very long time so I had a great time catching up with them!  Made Uncle Tim proud when I told him that I had taken to heart his speech about the importance of titles (this took place at Morgan and Jordan's graduation party and oddly enough the same time I was asked to be a bridesmaid!) and that I was only one test score away and a few other requirements from having the title of CPA.  He responded by acting like tears were coming to his eyes and he'd never been prouder that he'd changed someone's life!  I love that man! hehe.  So yeah a lot of fun talking with him.  Got to see Brenton with his braces which was news to me but he's so cute with them.  Also learned that he's um getting to be pretty much my height already and he's only in the 7th grade!  Kallie was looking so cute and pretty as she always does with her long wavy/curly hair and pretty smile!  I couldn't believe that she's a senior in high school this year!  Where does the time go?

After awhile of chatting they soon realized it was getting close to more work time for us so they conveniently cleared out while the rest of us gathered up our things and started getting ready and just followed w/e orders Aunt Dawn gave us.  Around this time Uncle Mike and Aunt Vikki showed up and someone brought Morgan's birthday cake which she, Mike, and Megan had been waiting for quite some time to eat.  They had been told to come over probably an hour before this cake ever arrived and had to just wait around til then.  So we got to sing Happy Birthday to Morgan and just when I was about to get a piece of the cake I was called away to Aunt Dawn's room.  I walked into her bathroom to see a scene straight out of Miss Congeniality!  There was Aunt Dawn sitting in a chair in front of the mirror with Sara behind her curling her hair, Kayla (Sara's older sister and fellow bridesmaid) and Kristin putting make up on her.  Aunt Dawn said that she was having the girls beautify her and she wanted us all to have a part in it which made me feel a bit useless though since I don't wear make up and therefore have no knowledge of applying it so the only thing I could think to do was stand behind her and start giving her a massage which just made her laugh!  Once they got her hair and make up done, it was time to do the flower girl's hair which Kathryn was not happy about because she was pulled away from play time so she pouted the entire time!

Once everyone was ready to go we all piled into the limo with our dresses, shoes, purses, and cameras.  The limo was really cool with seating that faced forward, backwards, and to the side which Kristin and I loved as we were able to stare straight out the window and be lost in our own little worlds of thought while Steven picked on us.  Once we arrived at the church we went to our dressing room which was also the kids room filled with tons of toys so Kathryn was entertained, and I'll admit I played with some of them too.  With everyone ready we headed out into the chapel (everytime that word was used someone would start singing "Going to the chapel and we're gonna get married") for pictures.  Guys would come at five to have their pictures done and group pictures were to be held after the wedding.  This was a great way to speed up the picture taking process and get us to food faster hehe.  After pictures were finished though we had an hr to wait all dressed up with nothing to do.  That's when we realized just how hungry we all were.  So Uncle James was sweet enough to bring us a huge bag of Ruffles, Twix bars, and crackers.  We all ate extremely carefully cuz we'd be in so much trouble if we ruined our dresses before the wedding!  Kristin made up a drop cloth for Kathryn from her change of clothes and fed Kathryn to avoid her getting chocolately fingers which would inevitably end up on her flower girl dress.  After eating we all made our bathroom trips but I must say Heather's was the most memorable!  FYI it takes three bridesmaids to help a bride use the bathroom....enough said on that.

So now we're getting down to the final mintues before the wedding, and Heather is getting a tad nervous now that it's so close and she still can't help but fuss with her dress continously pulling it up.  This is why I can't stand strapless.  You spend all your time lifting your dress and your boobs which is just a waste of time.  They fortunately did add straps to her dress as a last minute decision but she still was bothering by it sliding down.  The dress was rather heavy.  Uncle James being a sweetheart of a father did his best to calm his baby girl down and helped her to lift the dress up some in hopes that she'd stop fidgetting with it.  It wasn't until the clock hit six that she forgot about her dress and turned her attention to making sure this wedding went according to schedule.  I have to say that for the most part it did.  Had to wait a bit to get guests seated (there wasn't a spare seat in the place) but finally the procession started with the grandparents on both sides being escorted in followed by the parents of the bride and groom.  Since the groomsman had been escorting these people they were already lined up and waiting so the bridesmaids had to walk themselves down which wouldn't have been a problem if we had known exactly when to go.  We really needed someone telling us one by one when to go since we only had one run through during rehearsal and were all still so confused.  We knew enough that Ava Marie would be song while we walked down so when that started we went.  Kayla was the first to go and then me.

All I could really think about while going down the aisle was ok 1,2, 3rd pew now stop for photographer and smile, good now continue walking, slowly, short aisle take your sweet time, ah next photographer, smile while walking by, and oh look at Danny!  look at him smile!!! he's so happy and so excited! and ok now standing by Kayla.   It was all done in seconds I'm sure, and I still couldn't quite believe that this was the real thing....but here were the rest of the bridesmaids walking in...and then I watched as two groomsman began to pull out the "wedding carpet" as I'm calling it when halfway down the aisle they realize that the flower girl and ringbearer went too early and they jumped over the roll and proceeded down the aisle! It was too cute.  Then the maid of honor made her way down and then we got to wait for the song to finish.  We never knew how long it was or that we should have walked a LOT slower but it was a pretty song, and the singer was amazing so we just waited.

Before we knew it everyone was standing up, the music began to play, the doors opened, and there stood Heather looking more beautiful than ever in her stunning wedding dress being escorted by Uncle James.  She looked like tears were coming to her eyes and had the biggest smile on her face.  That's when I remembered to look at Danny.  He too had the same huge grin and could not take his eyes off her!  Also noticed that tears were coming to his eyes as well which was enough to start my own waterworks but I fought really hard and managed to keep them in.

To be honest I can't really recall all that happened after that point other than a few stand out moments.  Such as Uncle James giving Heather a hug and a kiss on the cheek and putting her hand in Danny's, looking briefly at Aunt Dawn seeing her eyes brimming with tears, quickly looking around to find family members as a distraction to not cry, and then they were saying their vows, lighting their unity candle, and Kristin and I fighting back tears from time to time, doing my best to shift weight around as my feet were starting to hurt, wanting to spank the ringbearer who started by placing the pillow between his legs and swaying back and forth and then trying to throw the pillow and then was making noises and crawling around and starting to crawl down the aisle while his mother did NOTHING and fortunately his aunt grabbed and held him the rest of the time.  Other than that brat the ceremony was beautiful only lasting 30 mins and Danny and Heather were sharing their first kiss as husband and wife and mind you that was a good and long kiss!  Then they were walking down the aisle arm in arm and slowly followed by the maid of honor and best man, ringbearer and flower girl, and the bridesmaids escorted by the groomsman.

The End is Near...

Yup that's right on Sat I will be graduating college!  I just have one final left and that's it for school!  It's all gone by so quickly these past few months.  Hard to believe its all about to be over.  I'm actually ready to be done with school because this last year has just been so stressful especially with the CPA exams but it will all be worth it when I can enjoy my last free summer before I begin full time working.

So naturally I can't seem to make it through my last week of college without making it completely unforgettable.  Today was such an amazing day.  Had a great time hanging out at home with mom.  Finished my final project last night and submitted it this morning.  The only thing remaining was to turn it in to the prof's office and then I'd be completely done with the class.  So I enjoyed my lunch at Napoli's with mom and helped her straighten up the house.  She helped me pack up and checked the oil in the van, filled the windshield fluid, and even cleaned the windows.  During the drive I managed to avoid the nasty weather and had a pretty clear drive.  Roads were more crowded than usual which caused the drive to be longer so I didn't reach my apartment until 4:30 but that was still enough time to get my paper turned in before the office closed.  I stopped at the apartment to drop my comp off so that it wouldn't overheat and of course I lock my purse into the van...although with my paper that I still needed to turn in......

Fortunately mom again came to the rescue after I talked to her through IM and she called AAA and he unlocked the van and I was able to turn in my paper and then got to endure some critism from my prof about my work which was just the icing on the cake.   So yeah pretty sure I'm not likely to forget about my last college paper....

Things are turning around...

So for some big news updates:  I finished everything I needed to do to complete the recognition cycle for nscs before the deadline so everything is all set to go for the next semester!  I got the A in the finance class that I so desperately needed so I can stay an officer in both of my groups!!!!  Also my Uncle Frank is recovering quite well from his surgery!!!

I survived summer school but only have a week left before fall semester starts again....oh well.

The Twists and Turns of Fate

I think I'm being tested....I'm pretty sure God is doing a strength test on me right now cuz He hasn't in awhile...Seems like I had a really long break with not a whole lot going on besides school.  But within the past week or so it seems like wave after wave of something or other to deal with.   First thing that came up and I'm still dealing with is getting NSCS recognized at school.  I wish this wasn't an annual process because it really is a pain especially when they change it from year to year on how it should be completed.  First problem with that was receiving an email last week saying I have til the 29th to get the process completed...a process that involves other officers who are out of town for the summer.   Last year we didn't even begin this process til August...  I did manage to get an extension on that so I had til mid August now.  Luckily I had been thinking ahead anyways and had already signed up for two of the seminars I needed to attend.  Problem was I needed another officer to attend one of them as well which got taken care of last Friday when Traci so graciously happened to be coming into town to take care of business anyways!  But my treasurer still has to take an online quiz but there were several complications of just getting him signed up correctly so he still has yet to take that.  Advisor also has to take an online quiz and of course he hasn't done that either.  I also need to submit a new constitution but that requires that NSCS national office post it on the website first which naturally they haven't done as their website is a total mess and has been since last fall when they first started messing with it and creating a new one.  Most of the links still don't work.  Joy!  But I think all this will be accomplished by the deadline...hopefully.

Another problem that has come to my attention is that for me to be eligible to hold my officer positions, I need to maintain in 3.0 in grad school. Now as an undergrad all you need is a 2.0.  So explain to me why it makes sense to up the gpr requirement when you get into a harder school!  Well this normally wouldn't be a problem seeing as all I've been able to make in grad school are B's (which is another sore sport btw).  But last summer session, I ended up with a C in my finance class which drops my gpr slightly below a 3.0.  So easy remedy is to make an A in a grad class.  Well I will have a guaranteed A in my ethics class in the fall but since I will not have a 3.0 going into the fall semester, the school won't allow me to hold an officer position.  So that means I have to make an A in my finance class this summer session....which just has a 600 point final.....and an A is classified as 89% of the highest score.  Final is open note/open book BUT I heard he makes the test insanely hard.  So yeah just slight pressure now.  I've got a week and a half to learn the material and I want to know it well enough to minimize usage of notes and the book and really do well on this exam so I don't' have to worry about eligibility requirements.  So I think it's possible but now I really have to buckle down this week.

On a good note though I'll probably be able to get an A in my cost accounting class...too bad that's only an undergrad class.

So that's the school drama for now.  Now for the family drama.  So I called my mom a few days ago I think and found out that her brother-in-law apparently had a heart attack at some point but didn't realize he had one so never went to the doctor for it.  He only found out when he happened to go to the doctor and was told that one more would be the end of him.  So now my aunt is all worried about him (totally natural).  Apparently heart attacks are common on his side of the family so for now I just have to hope and pray for the best and will find out more when we visit in a few weeks.

Also found out around 4th of July that one of my mom's brothers has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.   So I think he'll be going into surgery sometime this month.  If treated early enough there is a 100% recovery but he doesn't seem to be in much of a rush to get this corrected which is frustrating because I don't want to lose him either.  He's always the uncle with all the photos and stories of their childhood.  He's probably only in his 60s too.  I understand more why I was given the opportunity to serve as accounting director with Relay for Life now.  What better support group could I ask for?  Which is another reason why I need to be able to keep my officer positions...

Also got in trouble with the phone bill from parents.  Apparently I was using little over 200 mins past two months which put us over in the family plan which i think if i remember correctly is a grand total of 750 or so for 5 people...   So starting to consider just getting my own plan so I don't have to deal with that plus I'll be able to monitor my calls better if I'm in control of it.  So that's something else to look into when I have time....whenever that will be.

Other stressors have dealt with friends and mainly me trying to adjust to changing relationships meaning trying to maintain a friendship while they've started romantic relationships.  But that's always been a stupid issue with me.  I always have trouble adjusting but with time I start to accept the fact that I can't always be center of attention, a need I have because of questioning confidence and self esteem... but that's for another time and post.

Something that is helping me to handle the stress (besides my awesome bf/friends letting me rant to them) is the workout routine I've been doing for the past two weeks.  I seem to work out better when I'm stressed. hehe.  Although I'm not recommending people to get stressed to have a better work out.  Being too stressed kills most people.  It's the only way I seem to function.  I will admit I'm no longer as bored as I was a few weeks ago when I was foolishly complaining that I didn't have any drama going on in my life.  But at the same time, my headaches are back as well as being tired.  But I always survive and am always the stronger for it.  So go ahead God,  I'll pass this strength test just as I have all the rest.  I am up for the challenge that lies ahead.

Sometimes I just feel that so much is going on that nothing I do can keep my head above water....mainly I think I am burned out from all this constant schooling and trying to take care of organizational stuff before school begins...but an important lesson I learned is to NEVER complain about there not being any drama or anything going on in your life because you are just guaranteeing to receive enough drama all at once to stress you out not quite to the point of feeling in over your head but close enough... school issues arent' supposed to start up until the fall....especially the organization issues...mainly just officers not reading emails and not listening to me and frustrating but hopefully will be resolved soon.
